Careers - Developer Support Engineer

Developer Support Engineer – San Jose, California

The following role will suit a recent graduate, with strong computer science/engineering qualifications and up to 2 years experience, with a desire to work at the cutting edge of the PlayStation® development tools industry.

About the role:

The primary activity is to proactively support SN Systems’ customers in their use of the company’s products, both remotely and face-to-face.

The majority of customers are games programmers; to support them you will need to gain a thorough knowledge of the products and an understanding of the C/C++ code they are developing with the products.

This is a technical role and involves investigating and resolving customer problems. Additionally as you gain experience you are likely to visit customers to investigate problems, demonstrate products, and ideally, make presentations about our products.

The ideal candidates will be able to communicate technical issues clearly, be patient with busy customers and, above all, enjoy solving problems.

You will work closely with the product development team’s highly skilled programmers.

This role will be based out of the San Jose office. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Qualifications:

  • Computer Science / Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience

Skills required:

Essential

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Expertise in C++
  • A team player
  • An interest in the games industry
  • A desire and enthusiasm to work in a commercial environment and develop the following skills:
    • to quickly evaluate information and provide solutions
    • to demonstrate software products
    • to conduct performance analysis sessions

Desirable

  • Some experience of supporting software products
  • General technical knowledge of the PlayStation platform
  • Experience with SN Systems development tools
  • An understanding of how assemblers, linkers, compilers and debuggers work
  • Experience with Windows server administration
  • Experience with network administration
